We have been seeing a new trend in leadership where more and more women are being considered to lead businesses, organizations and politics.

This transformation has been happening for quite sometime now, but the current pandemic has opened up the world to acknowledge it and affirm it. The need for a balanced approach of the head and the heart which is being felt in leadership has always been a super power of the “female” leader.

However, in all this we also must pay attention to the other side of the woman leader. That side which has the heart of a mother, the emotions of a spouse and the responsibilities of a daughter and a sister.

She juggles various roles and juggles marvelously but sometimes, these roles can unknowingly also drain her emotionally and mentally.

The giving nature of the woman, sometimes takes too much out of her. As it is said “too much of anything is not good”.

In such times, it is very important to remember that the first person that you are responsible for if “You”.

Filling your cup is important so that you can pour more and be more. Be the leader who leads self first before anyone else.

You are responsible for yourself before anyone else. Your wellbeing is your priority.

Self love is about being clear in your thoughts, making decisions that don’t drain you, doing those small things that matter to you.

  • Appreciate yourself without expectations from others.
  • Believe in yourself without expecting others to believe in you.
  • Indulge in those small things that bring you joy.
  • Read that book. Even if it’s just a few pages.
  • Sleep that extra 10 minutes.

Self love is not selfish. It’s food for the soul of the leader who leads with the heart and the head.
